Love Seat Restoration

This leg had an old repair. A piece of popular wood was glued, screwed and shaped to match the leg. It was the only repair we did not have to redo. With one coat of clear finish over the stain the true color can now be seen. This is the time to touch-up all the putty spots and repairs like this leg. To help hide any touch-up it is best to do the work close to the wood (bottom layer of finish) to minimize any effects of metamerism and before other color adjustments. Using colored glazes and shading stain over a touch-up will make it look more natural. It is much more difficult to touch-up after all color adjustments have been completed.
